Fries was a developing amateur racing in the NASA Honda Challenge 1 class, a single-driver category within NASA's national multiclass sprint championship. The Honda Challenge 1 class runs production Hondas in a field mixing amateurs and graded professionals across fifteen classes on the same track.[1]
Fries made two starts in the 2007 NASA season and finished twenty-second in the championship standings. The driver finished ahead of fellow developing competitors including A. Lee, who had raced six NASA rounds, and J. Oldt, who had started five.[2]
