Cale Phillips is an entry-level professional competing in American single-driver national championships. He races Ford Mustang GT V8 pony cars in NASA's multiclass American Iron category, where he has been a mainstay since 2009. Phillips is currently in his first season of Trans-Am racing, competing in both the TA2 tube-frame class and the series' top TA category.[1]
Across 17 seasons in NASA, Phillips took 16 wins and 35 podiums from 102 starts, securing back-to-back national championships in the American Iron class in 2019 and 2020. He has since moved into Trans-Am TA2, where he has contested 25 starts since 2023 before stepping up to the single-round Trans-Am campaign this year. Phillips currently sits 14th in the Trans-Am championship standings.[2]
Phillips has spent most of his career in multiclass grids mixing amateurs and professionals. Among regular opponents, he runs closely with Robert Miller, a three-time NASA Spec Iron champion, while finishing more often behind Xavier Calderon, a two-time PTE champion. His results include victories over established professionals such as Carson Kvapil and Connor Zilisch, a NASCAR Cup Series driver with an FIA Gold licence.
