David Martel is a club-level driver racing solo in national multiclass sprint championships in the United States. He competes primarily in Mazda Miata machinery, racing the Spec Miata class in NASA and the SM, SMT, and ITA classes in SCCA Regionals, most recently for a Mazda Miata team.[1]
Martel has eight seasons of racing on record from 2018 through 2026, with 116 starts across NASA and SCCA Regionals. He took his first win in 2024 and has two podium finishes to date. In the 2026 SCCA Regionals season, still in progress with eight rounds completed, he has won once and stands 29th in the championship.[2]
He races regularly against developing drivers of similar standing; his record against Laura Braverman and Tony Senese, both experienced NASA competitors, is closely matched. He has beaten professional-level drivers including the 2025 ARCA Menards West champion Trevor Huddleston on two occasions and NASCAR-series competitor Dean Thompson three times, though these remain isolated results against much stronger opposition.
