Ed Varon was a club-level driver racing in NASA, a national multiclass endurance championship where American pony cars in the CMC class shared the track with fourteen other categories ranging from amateur through professional entries. He raced for three seasons from 2003 to 2006, accumulating 22 starts across four rounds in his final year.[1]
Varon took two wins and eight podiums in NASA competition. He finished 47th in the 2006 championship standings. His record against regular opponents shows him typically ahead of fellow developing drivers Mike Plum and Tim Bullock, each of whom he raced repeatedly over his career. He also beat Andy Lee, an entry-level professional who later raced in Lamborghini Super Trofeo and GT World Challenge America, in one meeting.[2]
