Randy Smith was a competitive amateur racing Porsches in PCA Club Racing, a national multiclass sprint series, across a decade from 2010 to 2019. He also made two starts in NASA's 944 Cup class in 2011. Smith finished 18 wins and 34 podiums from 45 starts across both series.[1]
His strongest period came in PCA Club Racing, where he accumulated 18 wins and 32 podiums from 43 starts over nine seasons. He finished seventh in the championship standings in 2019, his final season of racing. Two brief NASA appearances in 2011 yielded no results of note.[2]
Smith typically finished ahead of regular opponents James Rothenberger and David Mann, both developing drivers with substantial PCA Club Racing experience. He also beat Chris Green, a professional IMSA Pilot Challenge competitor, once in their meetings, and finished ahead of Robbie Wilson, an entry-level professional who raced over 100 PCA events, on six occasions.
