Alex Scaler is a competitive amateur racing solo open-wheel Formula Vee cars in the SCCA's national multiclass championships. The driver competes primarily in the SCCA Majors, where the field mixes amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals across 25 classes on the same track. Scaler races for their own program and has been active since 2020.[1]
Scaler won the 2022 SCCA Majors FV championship. In the Majors across five seasons from 2021 to 2025, the driver took 15 wins and 21 podiums from 23 starts, establishing themselves as a front-runner in the FV class. The Runoffs, the SCCA's national championship, has brought two podiums from six starts including one win; Scaler also added a win in three SCCA Regionals starts in 2025. The driver is currently active in the 2026 Runoffs season.[2]
In regular competition against other SCCA Majors regulars, Scaler usually finishes ahead of drivers with 28 and 40 Majors starts respectively. Against the stronger end of the field, Scaler has beaten Zachary Whitston, the 2022 SCCA Majors FV champion, five times across their head-to-heads; Andrew Whitston, who won the FV class in 2021, 2023 and 2024, has beaten Scaler decisively but the two have raced close enough for Scaler to finish ahead twice.
