Alex Scaler is a semi-professional racing open-wheel Formula Vee cars in the SCCA's national multiclass championships. Scaler races primarily in SCCA Majors, a 25-class national series that fields amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals together on the same track. The 2022 SCCA Majors FV champion, Scaler has taken 15 wins across 23 Majors starts since 2021.[1]
Scaler's record shows consistent pace against the regular field. Across SCCA Majors, Regionals and Runoffs, Scaler has finished ahead of most opponents encountered repeatedly, including the developing driver Jonathan Weisheit and club-level racer Roger Siebenaler. More significantly, Scaler has beaten Andrew Whitston twice; Whitston is a semi-professional who has won the SCCA Majors FV championship three times, in 2021, 2023 and 2024, and competed in 37 Majors starts and six Runoffs entries. Scaler has also finished ahead of Zachary Whitston on five occasions, a competitive amateur who won the 2022 SCCA Majors FV title and has raced 42 times in Majors and five times in Runoffs. At the Runoffs, the SCCA's season finale, Scaler has taken one win and two podiums from five starts.[2]
