Barry Bays holds a Racer Rating of 784, placing him in the developing class; this represents club racing at the entry level, with consistently competitive fields but without the wins or podiums that mark progression to stronger categories. His record spans two seasons of PCA Club Racing from 2004 to 2005, yielding 16 starts across that period without a victory or podium finish. He finished 142nd overall in his final season of 2005, with an average classification position of 11.4 across all races.[1]

Bays contested club-level Porsche racing against a field that included established rivals at the semi-professional tier and above. Among his most frequent competitors was Karl Poeltl, a three-time PCA Club Racing champion who would go on to take titles in F, GTB1 and SP3 classes; Bays finished ahead of Poeltl on three occasions from six shared races. He also regularly raced against Michael Branning, a two-time PCA Club Racing SP3 champion, and beat him three times from their meetings. Against Charles Geer, by contrast, Bays won only once in eight races. His most consistent success came against David Barton, whom he outfinished on four of six occasions. Despite these occasional victories over rivals, the absence of podium finishes in a 16-race career against this calibre indicates he remained at the back of competitive fields. Bays retired from racing after 2005.
