Michael Branning competed in PCA Club Racing between 2004 and 2013, accumulating 12 wins and 29 podiums across 51 starts. His Racer Rating of 1,508 places him in the club racing category; he was a competitive amateur in fields that did not meet full professionals. He finished on average in fifth place across all his races, demonstrating consistent performance in club-level competition.[1]

Branning's record against his regular rivals was mixed. He held a commanding advantage over Dan Morris and Robert B Love, finishing ahead of both drivers in the majority of their shared races, though Love proved tougher competition than Morris overall. Against stronger opposition he struggled; Stephen Roach and Peter Castellana both beat him more often than not in their head-to-head meetings. His most notable results came against drivers of considerably higher calibre: he beat Angus Rogers, an FIA Bronze graded driver and later champion of PCA Club Racing GTB1, on three occasions; he also finished ahead of Greg Rojik, who would go on to win the PCA Club Racing SP3 championship in 2025, in four races. These victories against much stronger drivers were isolated successes rather than patterns of consistent dominance.

Branning won the PCA Club Racing SP3 championship in both 2011 and 2012. His final season in 2013 showed continued form, delivering two wins and five podiums across five rounds before he retired from racing. His career remained entirely within club racing throughout its nine-year span.
