Bruce Binnquist is a competitive amateur, rated 2,739. This is the level of drivers who race regularly in club and regional fields, quick enough to lead local competition but not yet operating at the professional level where racing serves as a primary income or career path.[1]

Binnquist's record on the national stage consists of a single start in the 2009 Star Mazda Championship for Goshen Motorsports. He finished 24th in that outing, placing him at the back of the field. In that lone appearance, he did finish ahead of several drivers of higher standing, including Conor Daly, who would go on to win the Star Mazda Championship the following year and would later become an established professional rated in the elite tier; Christopher Cumming, a professional-level driver; and Gerry Kraut, a FIA Bronze graded professional. However, a single result against stronger opposition in a single race does not constitute a pattern and must be weighed against the fundamental fact that Binnquist failed to score a points finish and competed only once at national level before stepping away from single-seater racing.

Binnquist has since moved into off-road and sports car competition. His most recent documented racing activity places him in SST and UTV competition, where he has competed in events such as the Long Beach Grand Prix and off-road championships in California. He is now retired from active racing.
