David Colbey is a competitive amateur racing in the SCCA national multiclass championship series. He races heavily modified production sports cars in the FP class and production-based machinery in the ITA class, primarily at the Regionals level since 2021.[1]
Colbey has accumulated 22 wins from 47 starts across SCCA Regionals, Majors and Runoffs between 2021 and 2026. His record centres on the Regionals, where he has contested 39 races and taken 20 wins; he has also made five starts at Majors level and three at the Runoffs, the series' national championship event.[2]
In the fields he races regularly, Colbey finishes ahead of Brendan Frain, a fellow competitive amateur with 39 Regionals starts, more often than not. He has also beaten Joel Gambino three times; Gambino is a competitive amateur who has won the Regionals ITA class championship four consecutive years from 2022 through 2025 and has raced 72 times at that level.
