David Whitten is a developing-level driver who raced in NASA, a multiclass sprint championship in the United States where amateur, semi-professional and professional drivers share the track across fifteen classes. He piloted a Thunder Roadster, a purpose-built tube-frame roadster powered by a motorcycle engine, for eight seasons between 2008 and 2015.[1]
Whitten completed 52 starts in NASA over that span, taking three wins and ten podiums. His most recent season, 2015, saw him finish twenty-second in the championship standings across three rounds.[2]
Among his regular competitors were Ralph Bush and Ron Borges, both developing drivers with extensive NASA experience. Whitten typically finished ahead of Bush but behind Borges. He occasionally beat stronger drivers such as Robert Miller, a competitive amateur with 108 NASA starts, whom he outfinished once.
