Eric Bachelart is a Belgian semi-professional who raced in Formula 3 Macau, a single-class international championship that draws amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals into the same field. His indexed racing career comprises a single start in 1987 for Sport Auto Racing.[1]
Bachelart finished ahead of both Damon Hill, the 1996 Formula 1 world champion, and Johnny Herbert, an established professional with 162 Formula 1 starts and a career in International Formula 3000. Both would go on to sustained careers in the highest categories of motorsport. Bachelart's appearance in the Macau grid placed him in company that would define itself at the elite level of racing.[2]
Bachelart later became a team owner, founding Conquest Racing, which competes in IMSA sportscar racing.
