Evan Brumm was a club-level driver racing in national amateur and semi-professional multiclass sprint championships. He competed in NASA's 944 Cup class, driving naturally aspirated Porsche 944s, and in PCA Club Racing's SP2 class; his primary team across both series was Porsche. Brumm won four races and took 18 podiums in NASA between 2007 and 2009, establishing himself as a regular in the 944 Cup field. He added one podium finish in three PCA Club Racing starts in 2007. He finished ahead of established competitors including Tim Pruitt, a PCA Club Racing regular with more than 100 starts across both series, and Bill Comat, a driver with substantial experience in both championships. Against John Mock and Christian Tetzlaff, developing drivers he met frequently in NASA, he typically finished ahead.[2]
