Garrett Johnston is a competitive amateur who raced in 2014. That single outing put him ahead of several much stronger drivers: AJ Allmendinger, a Gold-graded professional; Danny Formal, a Silver-graded professional and three-time champion; and two other established competitors. To have outpaced drivers of that calibre in a single race shows genuine speed, though a single result cannot establish a pattern.[1]
Johnston has since retired from racing, with no competitive activity recorded after 2014.
