Hans Thomsen was a competitive amateur driver whose single season of racing competition came in 2019, when he contested the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series with nine starts. His rating of 2,181 places him in the club racing band, representing the front end of club and regional competition; this level encompasses drivers with real competition licences racing in fields that do not typically meet full professionals, though Thomsen's field contained several drivers of higher calibre who would go on to establish themselves more prominently in the series.[1]
Thomsen scored one win and three podium finishes across the nine rounds, averaging a seventh-place finish. His head-to-head record against the field was mixed. He finished ahead of Jackson Lee, an FIA Silver graded driver rated 3,613, on three occasions, and beat David Morales and Pat Daly four times each across nine shared races. Against the series champion Michael Myers, however, Thomsen finished behind him six times in nine meetings. He had the stronger record against David Dalton Jr., finishing ahead of him five times, but struggled relative to Donnie Steele, who would later win the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series Masters, finishing behind Steele in six of their nine shared races.
Thomsen did not continue racing after 2019 and has since retired from motorsport competition.
