Josh Koropchak was a competitive amateur driver whose career spanned three seasons from 2009 to 2011. His Racer Rating of 1,228 places him in the club racing band; he raced primarily in NASA and BMW CCA Club Racing, fields populated by semi-professional and amateur competitors. Across 13 starts, Koropchak secured one win and six podium finishes, an average finish of fourth.[1]
Koropchak's most productive year came in 2010 NASA competition, where he started 10 rounds and ended the season in second place overall with one win and five podiums. His head-to-head record against regular rivals was mixed. He dominated Michael Gershanok across eight shared races, finishing ahead every time, and held an even record against Mark Lounsbury and Hugh Stewart, each 3-3 across six and seven meetings respectively. However, he finished behind Joey G. and Al Galossi in the majority of their encounters. Among his strongest performances was finishing ahead of Benjamin Miller four times across five races, a meaningful pattern against a semi-professional driver two ratings bands above him.
Koropchak's best result against truly strong opposition came against Hugh Stewart, a multi-series champion, whom he beat three times in six races. He also finished ahead of Keith Andrews, a professional-level driver, twice in their meetings. After 2010 he dropped back to BMW CCA Club Racing in 2011, starting twice with a single podium, and subsequently retired from racing.
