Josh Tavel raced in SCCA Regionals and SCCA Majors, both multiclass sprint championships run in the United States. He drove a one-design Spec Racer Ford in the SRF3 class, competing in fields that mixed amateur, semi-professional and graded professional drivers across 25 classes per race.[1]
Tavel recorded two wins and two podiums from three career starts across the 2021 and 2022 seasons. His first indexed appearance came in SCCA Majors in 2021. He returned to racing in 2022 in SCCA Regionals, where he won both rounds he entered and finished 67th in the championship standings.[2]
In the club-level field he raced, he consistently finished ahead of regular opponents Greg Miller and Derek Napiantek, both of whom had substantially more starts in SCCA competition. He also beat Douglas Loughead, who had run 35 SCCA Regionals starts.
