Neville Lederle was a South African racing driver who started his Formula 1 career in 1962 with Lotus-Climax. Across two seasons, he made two World Championship starts without recording a podium finish. His single classified result came at the 1963 South African Grand Prix, where he finished eighteenth and scored a championship point. Despite the brevity of his Grand Prix career, that result demonstrated competitive standing; he finished ahead of several drivers of considerable calibre, including Richie Ginther, Carel Godin de Beaufort, and John Love, each of whom had established professional records substantially stronger than his own.[1]
Lederle's career at the highest level of motorsport was brief and did not lead to sustained Formula 1 participation. Beyond his Grand Prix record, he competed as a racing driver within South African motorsport, establishing himself prominently enough in national competition that he later held the title of South African Champion. He remained involved in motor racing throughout his life before his death in December 2022.[2]
