Renan Bayar was a competitive amateur racing in NASA's national pro-am multiclass championship from 2006 to 2011. He drove Honda Challenge specification cars for Afterhours Performance, which fielded 160 drivers across the span of the index and won 103 races with its strongest driver reaching professional level.[1]
Bayar completed 38 starts in his five seasons in the series, taking 16 wins and 25 podiums. His most productive years came in the middle of his career; by 2011, when he raced two rounds before finishing 21st in the championship standings, his activity had diminished sharply.[2]
Against the field, Bayar regularly finished ahead of developing-level regulars including Benoit Pecqueur and James Landry, who each held substantial NASA experience. He also beat John Tecce, a semi-professional driver who went on to race IMSA Pilot Challenge and international GT competition. His record against Jeremy Croiset, another club-level opponent with 72 NASA starts, ran 9 wins in their meetings.
