Rick Maxson raced at club level in BMW CCA Club Racing, a national multiclass championship run across eight classes on the same grid. He competed from 2003 to 2009 in the DM and JP classes, which both ran BMWs, driving as a solo competitor in a field mixing amateurs and semi-professionals.[1]
Over seven seasons Maxson took one win and eight podiums from seventeen starts. His most recent activity came in 2009, when he finished seventh in the championship standings after taking two podiums across three rounds before retiring from the series.[2]
In a field of club-level regulars Maxson usually finished ahead of Shane Gunn and Scott Krissel, both club drivers with significant BMW CCA experience. He also beat Todd Brown, a semi-professional with Bronze grading who had raced nearly six times as many rounds in the championship, on two occasions.
