Rob Talastas was a developing amateur racer who competed in NASA's Spec3 class for five seasons between 2013 and 2017, driving a spec 1993–1995 BMW 325is in the national multiclass championship. He started 32 times across that span and earned 15 podium finishes, placing fourth in the championship standings in his final season.[1]
His record placed him mid-pack in a field mixing amateurs and semi-professionals. He finished ahead of semi-professional Charles Ford twice and club-level competitor Jon McAvoy, who raced more extensively in the series, four times. Against his regular opponents, Talastas was closely matched with fellow club racer Robin Sparrow but typically finished behind McAvoy.[2]
