Barry Battle is a club-level driver who raced in American national multiclass championships across a decade, competing in solo sprint racing against fields mixing amateurs with professionals. His primary series were BMW CCA Club Racing in BMW machinery across three classes from 2004 to 2009, and NASA in German cars mostly BMWs and Porsches across three classes from 2008 to 2014.[1]
Battle won eleven races across his career and finished on the podium in twenty-eight of forty-nine starts. His most successful stretch came in NASA, where he took four wins and seven podiums in the twelve rounds of the 2014 season and finished second in the championship standings. He had earlier been active in BMW CCA Club Racing, taking five wins and eleven podiums from eighteen starts between 2004 and 2009.[2]
Against his regular competitors Battle was closely matched with Kyle Bacon, a developing driver, and usually finished behind Jon McAvoy, a competitive amateur with over a hundred NASA starts. He beat semi-professional drivers Michael Gilbert and Robert Mau once each in their respective meetings, including Mau, an FIA Bronze driver who had raced in NASA, GT4 America and European endurance competition.
