Steve Eckerich is a developing amateur racer competing in SCCA national club racing. He drives small-bore tuner cars in the STL class and modified production sports cars in the EP class, racing across SCCA Majors, Regionals and the national Runoffs in a multiclass field that mixes amateur and semi-professional entrants with graded professionals.[1]
Eckerich has completed five seasons of indexed racing from 2022 through 2026 with 19 starts across the series. He took one win in SCCA Majors and finished on the podium seven times in total, with four podiums in Majors and three in Regionals. His sole Runoffs appearance came in 2023.[2]
In the regular company he keeps, Eckerich runs behind the more experienced Chuck Hines, a competitive amateur with substantial history in both Majors and Regionals, while staying closely matched with Robert McManus, a club-level driver. He has beaten the semi-professional Jon Sewell once and Patrick McGovern once, drivers who run substantially more starts in the same races.
