Thomas Bernau was a competitive amateur endurance racing driver. He competed in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and the Nürburgring 24 Hours between 2018 and 2019, racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport and BMW one-make cup cars for MKR-Engineering in multiclass endurance fields that mixed amateurs with semi-professionals and graded professionals on the same grid.[1]
Bernau made five starts across two seasons; his last race was the 2019 Nürburgring 24 Hours. Racing in the Cup 3 and Cup 5 classes of the Langstrecken-Serie, he regularly faced Moritz Kranz, who won the Cup 3 championship four times between 2017 and 2019, and finished behind him consistently. He also raced against Adolfo Vazquez Marcos, an entry-level professional with extensive series experience, and finished behind him regularly.
