Andy Chu competed in the Star Mazda Championship in 2002, recording a single start in that series. He finished thirty-fourth in his sole outing and did not score points or podium finishes. His Racer Rating of 2,754 places him in the competitive amateur band, a level that encompasses the front of club racing and the entry point of professional racing; Chu's limited record and lack of results in a professional-level series place him at the developing end of this spectrum.[1]

In his one race start, Chu finished ahead of several drivers who would go on to establish themselves at higher levels, including Luis Schiavo, who became the 2003 Star Mazda champion, and John Mefford, Joe Pruskowski, and Tom Nastasi, all of whom achieved professional ratings. These results, however, represent isolated instances from a single race rather than sustained performance. Chu has not raced since 2002 and is no longer active.
