Bill Ward holds a Racer Rating of 578, placing him in the developing class; this represents club-level competition, the entry point of licensed racing where fields do not yet meet the calibre of full professionals. Across 14 starts between 2011 and 2021, Ward scored one podium finish, all of it in PCA Club Racing, the Porsche marque series where most of his activity was concentrated. He never won a race. His average finishing position of eighth tells little; what matters is that he raced consistently against club drivers and occasionally against semi-professional rivals, and finished behind them more often than ahead.[1]

Ward's head-to-head record reveals the scale of his competition and his standing within it. He finished behind Robert Murillo and Andy Simpkinson, both multiple PCA Club Racing champions with ratings well above his own, in every single shared race. Against Behram Soonawala, a developing-class driver rated lower still, Ward finished ahead only once in nine meetings. His single positive head-to-head records came against much stronger drivers, FIA Silver graded Colin Queen, and semi-professional Todd Harris among them, but these were isolated instances, one race each, set against a broader pattern of mid-pack finishes in amateur fields. His most recent activity, two SCCA Majors starts in 2021, saw him finish outside the points entirely, ranked 186th.[2]

Ward's career represents typical club racing; consistent entry-level participation without progression to the professional ranks. He has since retired from active competition.
