David Isbell was a competitive amateur racing in NASA, a multiclass sprint series that runs up to 15 classes together on road and street courses across the United States. He drove Hondas in the Honda Challenge 1 class and production-based cars in Super Touring 4, primarily for Acura Integra. His career spanned four seasons from 2014 to 2018.[1]
Isbell took 11 wins and 15 podiums from 19 starts in NASA, winning the series in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Most of his racing came in Honda Challenge 1, where he scored multiple victories including at Road Atlanta and the Pumpkin Run. His most recent activity in 2018 brought two races and one podium before he finished 20th in the championship standings.[2]
In the multiclass field Isbell raced regularly against developing drivers including Rob Oxford and Kris Popovic, finishing ahead of Oxford consistently and running closely matched with Popovic. He also beat semi-professional opposition including Woody Heimann, a driver with 58 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup starts, and Johan Schwartz, a Bronze-graded driver with extensive experience in NASA, American Endurance Racing and GT4 America.
