David Whitelaw is a club-level competitor, rated 1,147. This places him in the developing category; he raced at the back of competitive fields and did not demonstrate the pace to move beyond regional competition. His career comprises four seasons in NASA competition between 2005 and 2008, spanning 14 starts across what appears to be a single-make or regional series. He recorded one win and five podium finishes, with an average finish of seventh place; however, his most recent activity in 2008 saw him finish 33rd, and he has since retired from racing.[1]

Whitelaw's competitive record shows him consistently outpaced by the stronger drivers in his field. Against James Griffith III, a NASA CMC champion in 2004 and 2005, Whitelaw finished ahead only twice in twelve shared races. He had a similar record against Nick Steel, a 2003 NASA CMC champion, beating him three times in nine races.
