Diego Contecha is a competitive amateur whose racing record spans five starts across the SKUSA SuperNationals between 2018 and 2021. His Racer Rating of 2,687 places him at the front of club racing; this is a driver with a real competition licence and genuine results in fields where most competitors are not full-time professionals. Contecha finished on the podium once in his limited career, and his average finish of 14th position reflects a consistent mid-field presence.[1]

The calibre of his rivals tells the story of his level. Contecha frequently raced against drivers who would go on to far stronger careers; his head-to-head records against them are heavily negative. Connor Zilisch, now an FIA Gold graded professional and 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, finished ahead of Contecha in three of their four meetings. Kyffin Simpson, an FIA Gold graded driver and 2021 Formula Regional Americas champion, beat Contecha in two of three shared races. James Wharton, an FIA Silver graded professional, beat him in all three encounters. Contecha did manage isolated victories over several strong drivers, including a single finish ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, now an elite professional with three major single-seater titles, but these moments of success were exceptions rather than patterns.

Contecha's career ended in 2021 after just three seasons of competition. The evidence suggests a driver who was competitive at the amateur level and occasionally capable of beating talented rivals, but who did not progress through the racing ladder.
