Douglas DePietro was a competitive amateur racing Porsches in PCA Club Racing, a national solo sprint series run across sixteen classes on a mixed field of amateurs and professionals. He raced from 2009 to 2015 with occasional entries into NASA's multiclass championship and a pair of starts in American Endurance Racing's shared-car format in 2016.[1]
His career centred on PCA Club Racing, where he started fifty-one times and won twenty-six races from forty-two podiums. He finished third in the championship standings in 2015, his final season of indexed activity, after six rounds with two wins and five podiums. He also took three podiums across five NASA starts in the GTS classes, racing German cars in a national multiclass field that included graded professionals.[2]
DePietro raced regularly against club and developing drivers in his primary series and usually finished ahead of them; he also beat an entry-level professional, Attilio Albani, four times in PCA competition. His record was built against amateur and semi-professional opposition in club racing rather than in stronger national or international fields.
