Ed Cangialosi raced NASA, a national multiclass amateur and semi-professional series, from 2011 to 2022, competing in its production-car classes; he also ran American Endurance Racing, a multiclass endurance championship mixing crewed cars across amateur to professional fields, for two races in 2023. He was a club-level competitor throughout his career.[1]
Cangialosi accumulated 39 starts across NASA and American Endurance Racing over his indexed career, taking four podiums; two came in endurance racing's shorter calendar and two across his longer tenure in NASA. His most recent season, 2022, saw him place 68th in the NASA championship standings from two races, one of which yielded a podium. He finished ahead of Christopher Allen, an entry-level professional with experience in three series including Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, twice over their head-to-heads, and beat Lance Bergstein, another entry-level professional graded FIA Bronze with 19 IMSA Pilot Challenge starts, on three occasions.[2]
Among his regular opponents were Sam Jadczak, a developing driver with NASA experience, whom Cangialosi usually outfinished, and James Mertz, a club-level racer also competing in NASA; Cangialosi typically finished behind Mertz. His ability to beat entry-level professionals periodically placed him near the top of a field of amateurs and semi-professionals, though consistency against his most frequent rivals was mixed.
