He drove a Mazda MX-5 Miata in the Spec Miata class and competed in the Super Unlimited class in a three-season campaign from 2021 to 2023, compiling twelve starts and two podiums.[1]
Welch finished 18th in the championship standings in 2023, his final season of competition. His two podiums came across that three-year span. In most races he finished behind regular competitors Broderick Bauguess, a competitive amateur with forty-eight NASA starts, and Don Elvington, a club-level driver with 185 NASA starts to his name. Welch beat semi-professional Brent Goforth, who has raced Trans-Am, once, and club driver Bayani Dia, a regular with over 220 NASA starts, on one occasion each.[2]
