Balough finished 41st in the championship standings in his most recent indexed NASCAR Xfinity season. He raced most regularly against established professionals including Dale Arnold Jarrett and Harry Gant, drivers with substantially longer tenures in the series; he typically finished behind both. He finished ahead of Jeff Gordon, an established professional and FIA Gold graded driver, once during his time in the series, and beat Elton Sawyer on one occasion as well.[2]
