Jay Carley is a semi-professional racing driver who competed in national single-driver sprint racing in the United States. He raced primarily in NASA's multiclass championship between 2008 and 2011, driving Legends Pro coupes and production-based cars in the PTC class for Allison Pro 4, before a brief return to racing in 2019 with two starts in Trans-Am TA2 driving tube-frame V8 silhouette cars.[1]
Across his indexed career Carley took one win and four podiums from 12 starts. His strongest period came in NASA, where he scored that single victory and three podiums over four seasons. His 2019 return to racing saw him finish 23rd in the Trans-Am TA2 championship standings after competing in two rounds.[2]
Carley raced a multiclass field that mixed amateur, semi-professional and graded professional drivers. Against his regular NASA opponents Todd Brady and Kirby Caldwell, both developing-level drivers, he typically finished behind them. He beat competitive amateurs Cj Cramm and Curt Vogt twice each; Cramm had raced SCCA Majors and Trans-Am TA2, while Vogt brought substantially more experience from eighteen SVRA starts and fourteen in Trans-Am TA2.
