Jorge Diaz is a developing amateur racer who competed in SCCA club racing from 2021 to 2023. He raced spec Mazda MX-5 Miatas in the SM class across the SCCA Majors and SCCA Regionals, multiclass national championships that mix amateur, semi-professional and graded professional drivers on the same grid.[1]
Over three seasons Diaz made 28 starts, 16 in the Majors and 12 in the Regionals, and took one podium finish in the Regionals. He finished 84th in the Regionals championship standings in his final season.[2]
In regular competition against established opponents Diaz typically finished behind Evan Jacobs, a competitive amateur with over 60 starts across SCCA and NASA racing, and Alan Leukhardt IV, a club-level regular. He beat entry-level professional Jonathan Neudorf once and semi-professional Danny Steyn, the 2021 SCCA Runoffs STL champion, once each.
