Ken Payson is a developing-level amateur competitor who raced in SCCA Regionals and SCCA Majors between 2021 and 2023. He drove in the ITS class at Regionals, which runs production-based cars with limited modifications, and in the T4 class at Majors, which runs near-stock modern street cars. Both series are national multiclass championships mixing amateur, semi-professional and graded professional drivers across 25 classes in single races.[1]
Payson's record totalled 17 starts across SCCA competition, with 7 wins and 13 podiums. His sole Majors entry came in 2021. The bulk of his racing was in Regionals over 2022 and 2023, where he took 5 wins and 8 podiums across 10 rounds and finished fifth in the season standings in his most recent year.[2]
In the regular company at Regionals, Payson typically finished ahead of developing-level opponents including Mark Murphy and Brian Bagnall, both with multiple starts in the series. He also beat Doug Fambrough and Matt Miskoe, club-level drivers with deeper records in Regionals and related competition.
