Leston's Formula 1 activity came in 1957, when he started one round and finished 15th in the championship standings. His appearances for BRM placed him in a grid that ranged from amateur and semi-professional drivers through to graded professionals, a field that included some of the era's leading competitors. BRM itself was a constructor that would go on to field drivers of the calibre of Jackie Stewart, though Leston's tenure there was brief.[2]
