Luke Steele held a single season of racing in the 2021 Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series, a brief career that placed him at club level; his rating of 1,733 reflects competitive amateur standing. Across twelve starts, he finished on average in sixth position but did not score a win or podium finish. He raced in a field that included several stronger drivers, most notably Bryson Morris, who won the 2021 Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series Championship and an FIA Silver grading. Morris beat Steele in eleven of their twelve meetings that season, with Steele managing only a single finish ahead of him. Titus Sherlock, later to win the 2025 Formula Regional Americas championship and also graded FIA Silver, appeared alongside Steele in the same twelve races and prevailed in ten of them.[1]

Steele finished ahead of more modest opponents with greater consistency; he beat semi-professional driver Alex Benavitz three times in their shared races and twice outran Hayden Bradley, though the head-to-head record still favoured those rivals. His racing career ended after 2021 and he has since retired from the sport.
