David Palfenier is a competitive amateur racing solo sprint events in national multiclass championships run by SCCA. He races the STL class, which runs small-bore production-based tuner cars of 2 liters and under. His primary series are SCCA Majors and SCCA Regionals, both of which field up to 25 classes on the same race; he also has two starts in the SCCA Runoffs.[1]
Across seven seasons from 2020 to 2026, Palfenier has taken 11 wins and 21 podiums from 35 starts. His record is heaviest in SCCA Majors, where he has competed since 2021 with 10 wins and 17 podiums in 29 starts. He added a win in SCCA Regionals in 2025, taking all four of his podiums there from four starts. His two Runoffs appearances, both in 2020 and 2022, produced no podiums.[2]
In the STL field, Palfenier regularly finishes behind Danny Steyn, a semi-professional who has won the SCCA Majors STL class four consecutive years from 2021 to 2024 and has raced more than 160 times across SCCA and NASA events.
