Max Grau was a club-level driver in American club racing, competing in SCCA Majors and the SCCA Runoffs between 2020 and 2021. He raced spec Mazda-powered Formula Enterprise cars in the FE2 class and small-bore production-based tuners in STL, both single-driver categories in multiclass national fields that mixed amateurs with semi-professionals and graded professionals on the same circuit.[1]
Across ten starts, Grau took one win and six podiums. He was most active in SCCA Majors, where he started eight times in 2021 and 2022, claiming one victory and four podiums. He made two further starts in the SCCA Runoffs in 2020 and 2021, both yielding podium finishes. His last recorded race came in the 2021 Runoffs.[2]
Grau was closely matched against semi-professional regular opponents including Jason Pribyl, who has 21 SCCA Majors starts and a Silver FIA grade, and Scott Rettich, a former Star Mazda driver with 21 starts in that series. He finished ahead of Danny Steyn, the four-time SCCA Majors STL champion, once across their meetings.
