Philip Stern is a club-level driver racing in national German endurance competition. He competes in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a multiclass championship where amateurs and professionals share the track in long-distance events run at the Nürburgring. Stern drives a rear-wheel-drive turbocharged production car in the VT2 Hecka class, which runs as a shared-driver endurance format; multiple drivers take turns at the wheel of each car during a race.[1]
Stern's record consists of a single start in 2026, his first season of indexed racing. That single outing placed him 16th in the championship standings as the season continues; more rounds are still to be contested. In that race he finished ahead of Sandy Mitchell, an established professional and FIA Platinum-graded driver with a 2020 British GT Championship title to his name and extensive experience across British GT, GT World Challenge Europe and British F4. Stern also beat Tijmen van der Helm, a professional-level driver graded FIA Gold who has raced in IMSA WeatherTech, Formula 3 and Formula Renault Eurocup.[2]
Stern races for Car #522 in a field mixing club-level and semi-professional entrants with established graded professionals. A single start against strong opposition offers limited perspective on where he sits in that field, but finishing ahead of drivers of Mitchell's and van der Helm's calibre in his first race is a notable result.
