Phillip Hyett is an American racing driver whose background lies primarily in software development and technology entrepreneurship. Before establishing himself in motorsport, he co-founded GitHub, an internet hosting service for software development and version control, alongside Tom Preston-Werner and Chris Wanstrath in 2008. That career in technology preceded his move into competitive racing, giving him an unconventional path into the sport relative to many of his peers in the World Endurance Championship paddock.[1]

In WEC competition, Hyett has made a single career start, driving for Team Project 1, and has recorded one podium finish from that appearance without yet securing a race win or championship. His single outing in the 2026 season yielded that podium result across one round, placing him P198 in the season standings.
