Ramon Niebla raced in NASA's Spec Miata class, a single-driver national championship run in Mazda MX-5 specification machinery within a multiclass grid that mixed amateur and semi-professional entrants with graded professionals. He competed across three seasons from 2012 to 2014, taking one win and four podiums from twenty starts before retiring from the series.[1]
Niebla's record centred on regular competition against developing-level drivers of similar standing. He finished ahead of Brett Becker in most of their meetings but ran closely matched with Wilson Steele, who had substantially more NASA experience. His win came in 2013. In his final season, 2014, he took two podiums across eight rounds and finished 46th in the championship standings. Across his career he twice beat Kyle Kelley, an entry-level professional who had raced in NASCAR Xfinity and Trans-Am, and once finished ahead of Mason Filippi, a professional and FIA Silver-graded driver who went on to win the 2026 IMSA Pilot Challenge TCR championship.[2]
