Raphaël van der Straten is an entry-level professional who raced in the 24H Series, a multiclass endurance championship run across Europe in which multiple classes of GT and silhouette cars share the track. He competed for VDS Racing Adventures across four seasons from 2017 to 2020, driving in the GTX and SP2/SPX classes where each car was piloted by multiple drivers in rotation during each race.[1]
Van der Straten won four races across eleven starts and finished on the podium in seven of them. He took the 2018 24H Series championship with VDS Racing Adventures. His final indexed season came in 2020, when he took a podium finish from one start before retiring from racing.[2]
He raced regularly against entry-level professionals Pierre-Yves Paque and Dominique Bastien, both FIA Bronze graded with experience across multiple endurance series, and held his own in those matchups. He also finished ahead of Manuel Metzger, an FIA Silver professional and two-time Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie champion with extensive sportscar racing behind him, and Erik Janis, another Silver-graded professional with Formula 3 Euro Series experience.
