Ricardo Carvalho is a developing amateur racer competing in the SCCA Regionals, a national multiclass championship mixing amateur and professional drivers across 25 classes in a single race. He races the SM class, which runs spec 1990-2005 Mazda MX-5 Miatas. His first indexed season came in 2025, with seven starts across the calendar.[1]
Carvalho finished 80th in the SM class championship. His regular competitors in the class are semi-professionals with substantially more racing experience; Malbec Ramos and Gianni Maiuro, both of whom have raced SCCA Regionals extensively and competed in national-level single-seater and production-car championships, regularly finish ahead of him. He has taken individual race finishes ahead of club-level drivers John Davison and Steve Murray, each of whom has run the series at greater length.[2]
