🏳️ Robert Salus

Robert Salus is a developing amateur racer who spent twelve seasons in NASA, a multiclass championship that fields amateur and professional drivers together across fifteen classes in a single race. He drove Pontiac Firebirds in the CMC and CMC2 classes, which run American pony cars with limited modifications, across 49 starts between 2011 and 2023. He finished 26th in the championship standings in his final season.[1]

Salus raced NASA consistently but remained toward the rear of the field against established competitors. Derek Wright and Bob Denton, both regular opponents in the series, typically finished ahead of him; Wright has 193 NASA starts as a semi-professional and Denton 201 as a competitive amateur. Salus managed to beat both drivers occasionally, and finished ahead of Kent Owens four times across his career. His most notable scalp was Tom Long, a semi-professional and FIA Gold driver who won the 2018 IMSA Pilot Challenge TCR title and has raced across IMSA's top series; Salus beat him twice.[2]
