Derek Wright is an entry-level professional competing in NASA's national multiclass championships, where he drives a Chevrolet Camaro in the CMC and CMC2 classes for pony cars with limited modifications. He has sixteen seasons on record in the series since 2011, accumulating 193 starts across those years. Wright has also made two endurance racing appearances in the multiclass American Endurance Racing series in 2019, sharing a Class 4 production-based car in a field that includes graded professionals.[1]

Wright's record across his indexed career shows 86 wins and 155 podiums from 195 total starts. He has claimed multiple NASA championships; his most recent came in 2025, and he won titles in 2023, 2024, 2019 and 2018 as well. This season, still in progress, Wright leads the 2026 NASA championship standings with 10 wins and 15 podiums from 19 rounds completed so far.[2]

His regular opposition in NASA consists of competitive amateurs and semi-professionals with substantial experience in the series. Wright runs closely matched with Bob Denton, a competitive amateur with 201 NASA starts, and Kent Owens, a semi-professional with 188 NASA starts. He has raced alongside stronger drivers such as Tom Long, a FIA Gold semi-professional and 2018 IMSA Pilot Challenge TCR champion; Wright has finished ahead of Long 22 times across their meetings in NASA. His primary machinery throughout his career has come from the Chevrolet Camaro stable, which fields multiple drivers at the professional and semi-professional level and counts Tom Long among its roster.
