Ryan Schuster raced solo in American national multiclass club championships from 2009 to 2012. He competed in BMW CCA Club Racing, where he drove a BMW in its IP class, and made two starts in NASA's GTS3 class in 2012 before retiring. His racing took place in fields mixing amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals on the same track.[1]
Across 18 starts in these two series, Schuster took seven podiums. He finished 36th in the 2012 NASA season standings. His most regular opponents were Kevin Ogrodnik and Vernon Anderson, both club-level drivers with considerably more experience in these series; Schuster typically finished behind them.[2]
Schuster was a developing driver who occasionally outran more experienced competitors. He beat Jesse Clark, a semi-professional with over 120 starts across his career, once, and finished ahead of Rob Jackowitz, an entry-level professional and American Endurance Racing class champion, twice across their meetings.
