Steve Nichols is a club-level driver who raced in NASA, a national multiclass championship that fields amateurs and professionals in the same race. He drove American Iron, a V8 pony car class, across three seasons from 2015 to 2017 with 13 starts. He has since retired from competition.[1]
Nichols took six wins and ten podiums across his thirteen NASA starts, finishing 29th in the championship standings in his final season of 2017. His record came against a regular field of developing drivers; he was closely matched with Todd Nunn and Wesley Dearing, both club-level NASA regulars, and beat the semi-professional Joe Bogetich twice and the entry-level professional Cale Phillips once.[2]
