Blake Minasian was a semi-professional racing Spec Miata, a single-class formula run in Mazda MX-5s, within NASA's multiclass national endurance championship in the United States from 2018 to 2022. He competed primarily for Mazda Miata across 61 starts.[1]
Over five seasons Minasian took seven wins and 29 podiums. His record peaked in 2021, when he won twice at Willow Springs and once at Buttonwillow and finished the Southern California Spec Miata season as champion. His final season, 2022, saw him placed 87th in the championship standings after three rounds with one podium finish before his retirement from the sport.[2]
Minasian raced regularly against competitive amateurs and club-level drivers; he finished behind Ryan Pond, a competitive amateur with 68 NASA starts, more often than not, and split results evenly with Rob Burgoon, a club-level regular. He finished ahead of Ethan Lampe, an entry-level professional and two-time SCCA Runoffs champion, once across their meetings, and beat Hannah Grisham, a professional FIA Silver driver and World Racing League GTO National and East champion, eight times in their head-to-head racing.
